Electrolytes Containing Triethyl Phosphate Solubilized Lithium Nitrate for Improved Silicon Anode Performance

An electrolyte consisting of lithium nitrate (LiNO 3 ) and difluoro(oxalato)borate (LiDFOB) in ethylene carbonate (EC), ethylmethyl (EMC), triethyl phosphate (TEP) is used to improve the long-term cycling stability silicon anodes. TEP was selected for its ability dissolve LiNO carbonates a concentration ∼0.2 M. The large amount combined with LiDFOB salt leads capacity retention 87.1% after one hundred cycles due formation relatively stable solid interphase (SEI). Ex-situ surface analysis reveals that SEI consists oxalates, alkyl carbonates, borates, reduction products.
